Guillermo
Merino
When Guillermo became a part
of Airworthiness Worldwide in the Fall of 2000, he brought with him 36 years of
extensive aviation experience which included a wide array of responsibilities
including those of Engineer, Quality Control Manager, and Maintenance Director.
Prior to joining our team, Guillermo served as Maintenance Director for
Allegro Airlines of Cancun at which he managed local and international
maintenance stations and lent special attention as a liaison between Allegro and
the FAA, specifically on the FAA’s oversight of the U.S. stations.
Guillermo previously gained
experience at TAESA Airlines (previously Mexico’s 3rd largest airline) and at
Mexicana Airlines. As the Heavy Maintenance Services Director of TAESA,
Guillermo was responsible for maintenance to the airline’s fleet that included
Boeing 727s and 737s, and Douglas DC-9s and DC-10s. During his 23 years at Mexicana, Guillermo worked first
as an engineer working with a Boeing team to design the fleet’s interior, then
as Quality Control Chief, Backshops Coordinator, and then as Maintenance
Manager.
Guillermo
holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and earned a post-graduate diploma in
the field of Aviation Business Administration. He is fully fluent in Spanish and English and 70% fluent in
French.
